New Workaround for Xbox One error “For some reason TV took too long to start (0x8027025a)”

On November 23, I posted a workaround for an error that occurs when trying to watch live TV on an Xbox One (the original post).  It seems I wasn’t the only one who was experiencing the problem. That post has been viewed 4,249 times, with nearly 1,000 of those views on the first day alone! That’s definitely a new experience for me.  I even had comments in the double digits, and merited a mention in an IBT article. Wow.

A few people commented on my original post that another workaround was found in the Xbox forums.  I finally had an opportunity to test the fix and confirmed that it works. I had found (as did others in the forums) that disabling Instant On prevented an error when you tried to watch live TV.  It turn sout that Instant On can be re-enabled if you turn off the option to let the Xbox turn off your cable/satellite box. It is still just a workaround, but without losing an important feature like Instant On. I can use my Harmony remote to turn off my other devices anyway, so it is a small price to pay.

I’ve updated my original post to include this new fix. As with any workaround, there’s no guarantee it will work for you.
