Viridian gets a name
Ben Armstrong, a program manager for virtualization, mentions on his blog that Microsoft announced the official product name of their virtualization technology at TechEd in Barcelona. Shipping within 6 months of the release of Windows Server 2008 and formerly code-named Viridian, the product will have an official name of… Hyper-V.
Huh?
Microsoft often comes up with some really poor name choices, but this has to rank pretty high up there. I think they should have stuck with Viridian. Not that the name will have much to do with its acceptance, but it just falls flat with me.
