I’m getting a bit ahead of myself as I haven’t posted anything about the TechEd Roundtable yet, but I want to get this video out there. I promise to blog about the roundtable soon, but here’s the short story: I was in Houston last week as part of a group of TechEd and MMS alumni that as invited to meet with the team behind Microsoft TechEd North America. It was a chance for us to get a sneak peek at the venue, Houston, and engage in discussion about the event as they plan for 2014.
The group met at the executive boardroom at the George R. Brown Convention Center (where WPC 2013 was held, and where TechEd 2014 will be). Our breakfast that morning was probably not exactly what they’ll be preparing for thousands of attendees, but it did highlight the skills of their culinary team. One of the items on the menu was a savory duck fat donut with braised short rib, quail egg, and sweet potato hash. They didn’t stop there, however, as they proceeded to kick it up several notches by smoking the donuts. With pecan wood. Wow.
Here’s a video of the smoking in action. Enjoy.
I only regret I didn’t take more than one of the plates.
