On Monday night, Jason Hawes and Grant Wilson from The Atlantic Paranormal Society (TAPS) and SciFi show Ghost Hunters were in St. Louis at the downtown library. I enjoy the show so decided to stop by and see them. Turns out I’m not the only one around who watches the show. They had around 1,000 people in the library and another 300 or so they had to turn away due to building capacity and fire code issues. I missed getting in the room where they were by ~40 people, so I wound up in the overflow room (which was much larger than the main room). They had a video feed setup, although we didn’t actually get to see them but rather the video from their laptop presentation along with audio.
The presentation was entertaining. They stress they’re just a couple of plumbers and aren’t great public speakers, but they were engaging, informative, and funny. They talked about how they will investigate a location over a week when filming and then it gets edited down to make it look like a single night. They also don’t have much control over the editing process. They have a book out that talks about some of their cases and gives you more info about the things that were left on the cutting room floor.
Afterwards, there was a meet and greet line where you could get something signed and have a photo taken. I didn’t have their book or anything else, so I just had them sign the flyer for the session. I was near the end of the line and didn’t get up to them until around 10 PM. I asked how they were holding up and Jason said that it was good to see the end of the line since it meant they could get something to eat and sleep. They arrived in town right before the session started, so they had to have been dragging after four hours.
Here’s my photo with Jason and Grant:

I may be 16 months late, but I’m finally starting to go through and post our Alaska photos. You may recall that in May 2006, Kristin and I went on a cruise tour of Alaska, four days on land and ten days at sea. I’ve posted pictures from our first two days of the trip. Check out the Alaska 2006 photo album
The first day was all about travel. Flying form St. Louis to Chicago to Seattle to Anchorage. Day two is about travel as well, this time on the train to Talkeetna where we boarded a bus for the McKinley Princess Wilderness Lodge. Real life planes, trains, and automobiles. Oh, and Mt McKinley (a.k.a. Denali) too!

We’re leaving tomorrow on our annual trip to the Dingler Family reunion. This year the reunion is in Little Rock, Arkansas, so a shorter trip than has usually been the case. We’ll be stopping in Memphis for a night, then on into Arkansas for stops in Crossett, Hamburg, and Little Rock. We’ve never been to Little Rock, so we’re looking forward to seeing the city and visiting the Clinton Presidential Library and Museum
p. I figured it would be good to actually start posting photos from last year’s trip, so I’m taking a break from the Disney trip until I get back. I’ve posted photos from our days in Lynchburg and Huntsville.

Here we go with another installment of Disney 2007 photos. I’ve added an album for Day Four which mostly covers the Wilderness Lodge resort with a few other areas tossed in for good measure. Here’s one from Epcot.

I’m so far behind in posting photos from our various trips, so I figured I need to at least post the pictures from our Walt Disney World trip last month. We were there June 8-13, staying at Wilderness Lodge, our new favorite resort. Although Yacht and Beach Club still have the most convenient location, Wilderness Lodge (WL) has incredible theming as well as a great location. From the minute you set foot in the lobby, you may as well be in the Pacific Northwest. The pool area is one of the best at WDW with a mountain stream flowing directly into the pool. And you can hop a boat or take a nature hike over to Fort Wilderness (we didn’t try the trails, but hope to do that next time), or take the boat over to the Magic Kingdom and Contemporary Resort. One night we had dinner at Citricos at the Grand Floridian and took the boat from WL to Magic Kingdom (MK), then switched to another boat to the Grand Floridian (GF), then headed back after dinner via monorail to the Contemporary, then boat again to WL. We hit all of the major parks, watched the space shuttle liftoff (as mentioned in a previous post), and were filmed in a crowd for an upcoming Wonderful World of Disney episode. A great vacation as always!
I have pictures uploaded from the first three days, coverin the Magic Kingdom and Star Wars Weekends at Disney-MGM Studios. The space shuttle photos are there as well. Here are a few pictures to whet your appetite. Head over to my Walt Disney World 2007 gallery for more.
