At work, we’re primarily a Microsoft shop, and overall I’m happy with the products we have in production. At times, however, it would great if the WSYP (We Share Your Pain) program put forth by Microsoft UK was real. Check out the WSYP Project web site and watch the video.

I never cease to be amazed by all of the cool things my friends are doing. Chris Brooks, a former suite-mate from Washington University and a longtime friend, spends his days as CTO at Corillian Corporation (check out his executive bio). In his free time, however, he plays a lot of games. And when I say a lot, I mean a LOT of games. Now Chris has branched out from playing into designing, marketing, and selling games through a new company he started with some friends, Sunriver Games.
So why am I posting about them? Well, they just released their first game, HAVOC: The Hundred Years War. By all accounts it sounds like they had a successful launch at Essen Spiel 2005, and the reviews I’ve read online have all been positive. So, if you’re looking for a new game to try out, consider picking up Havoc, available online at Funagain Games.
I have to admit that I have not played it myself, but what better game than one designed by a gamer? For some more info, check out the following:
- News article from the Sherwood Gazette (Chris’ local newspaper) about Havoc.
- A look at the Economics of Havoc where Chris sheds some light on the economics of releasing your own game.

With all of the kids coming to the door in costume, I figured that Collen should get dressed up as well. Here’s a picture of him wearing his Hawaiian shirt and lei:

I carved pumpkins last night for Halloween. We usually have three pumpkins—one big one for me, a medium one for Kristin, and a small one for Collen. Unfortunately when I cut it open, I discovered that it had rotted on the inside. Whew, what a horrible smell!
So here are the two I carved this year. The one with the puppy paws is Collen’s (design courtesy of the Pumpkin Lady), and the Mac OS face is Kristin’s (courtesy of Apple).

The waiting list for Green Bay Packers season tickets is updated each fall. As part of this process, I received a postcard recently advising me of my current place in line. I moved up 746 spots this year, all the way up to 66693. At this rate I’ll have tickets in… 90 years!
