I upgraded my PC this evening, going from an AMD Athlon XP 1600 to an Athlon XP 3000 (333). I also replaced my PC2100 RAM with PC3200. The speed increase is noticeable, especially when I ran Sims 2
Kristin predicted that this was going to turn into an all-night battle between man and machine (as many of my upgrades seemed to become in years past), but everything went smoothly (so far).
The next items to upgrade will be RAM (add another 512 to go to 1 GB) and hard drive (add a 160 GB SATA drive or larger). That should tide me over for a little while.

Well, we may have lost the election, but finally some good news… John Ashcroft is resigning as Attorney General. He’s sticking around until his successor is in place, but at least there is some light at the end of the tunnel. Of course, his replacement may be even worse, but that’s hard to imagine.

I set foot in a Trader Joe’s yesterday for the first time in 11 years. We stopped at the Brentwood location, and the place was packed. According to employees, it was even more crowded the day before, which was the first day they were open. The store was much bigger than the location where I used to shop when I lived in California. I’m not sure if they are all this size now, but I’m guessing this is probably a pretty typical store. I was just overjoyed to find that they still stock my favorite black bean dip!
We heard quite a few people talking about being from California and missing Trader Joe’s, so I’m not the only one who felt this way. Of course, with locations around the country now, you don’t have to be a former Californian to be a fan of Trader Joe’s.

Even though I live in St. Louis, I’m rooting for the Red Sox to win the World Series. It isn’t that I hope the Cardinals lose. I just think it would be great for the Red Sox to finally win a World Series, declare the Bambino’s Curse broken, and move on. Plus, I still haven’t forgiven the Cardinals for beating the Brewers in 1982.

The logo for the new Doctor Who series has been unveiled. Definitely an improvement over what was used in the later years of the original series. Take a look over at the BBC’s Doctor Who site.
