Happy Thanksgiving

Happy Thanksgiving everyone. We’re home for the holiday this year, and getting ready to start cooking. Turkey, stuffing, mashed potatoes… the traditional meal. The Packers are playing the Lions today, so we’ll watch the game and then eat. Enjoy your holiday everyone!

Patchwork Dog

Collen’s surgery on Tuesday went well. His bloodwork was fine, and they removed the cyst from his back. He has a shaved patch there now that is around 6in x 3in, so he isn’t looking his best. With the couple inches of stitches running through the middle of that, he looks like a plush toy that needed some repairs. He’s doing well though, and doesn’t seem to be too inconvenienced by any of it. He’s taking antibiotics through the weekend, and then his stitches come out on December 5.

Collen goes to the vet

Posted in General @ 4:56 pm Comments Off

We found a bump on Collen’s back that seemed to be a scab or something. Since it seemed he’d had something similar in that same spot before, I took him to the vet this morning to have it checked out. Turned out to be a sebaceous cyst… basically a canine equivalent to a pimple… except a lot more unpleasant. It isn’t harmful to the dog, the vet said, although it probably isn’t comfortable, but the only way to remove it is surgery. So Collen goes in next Tuesday to have it removed. I’ll drop him off in the morning and then pick him up that afternoon.

He’s a bit bummed at the moment, because I haven’t let him out of the kitchen for fear of staining the furniture. He’s going to go crazy in the kitchen for a week so I’ll probably get some old blankets from the garage to cover his favorite spots. Poor guy.

The Doctor is In

Posted in General @ 12:43 am Comments Off

Doctor Who is back! The BBC has started webcasting a new and original episode, Scream of the Shalka (animated using Flash), starring Richard Grant as the ninth Doctor. Episode One is available now with more episodes to follow every Thursday. This will help hold me over until the new series is back on TV.
